A property developer, Fife contacted our claims consultant when their show room collapsed due to severe weather and asbestos contamination affected the redevelopment of it.

This property developer was stunned when one of his show rooms collapsed after a heavy fall of snow. Yet, this wasn’t the only cause, as they later discovered there was asbestos contamination throughout the building.
The business faced more issues when the insurer and loss adjuster decided, in their opinion, no loss had taken place apart from some debris and site clearance that was required.
Action
Due to the problems the business faced they asked for our help several months after the incident.
Our consultants worked with the insurer and the brokers to fully understanding the claim, and introduced chartered surveyors who identified the extent of the damage.
It was agreed that the business would base the claim on the cost of reinstating the building giving the business several settlement options.
Result
Hamilton Bond secured successful settlement of the claim and recovery for the business. Reinstatement costs of the building were agreed, including costs associated to upgrading to satisfy current building regulations.
Providing key guidance, Hamilton Bond took lead of the negotiations with the insurer and secured cash settlement to accommodate future developments.
